Gossip!

I don't know what it is, I never saw it before!  Maybe it's one of those dangerous immigrant things from over there!

Oh well, it is kind of cute. Let's wait a while, and see.

Meet our new friend Ripple!

So far we don't know too much about Ripple,  but here's how we met.......

I was happening to glance to my left on the way up 5th avenue, when my pointless progress was arrested by an insistent and very demanding TWEET. I turned around, and there was the unmistakable puffy, tweety, happy presence of Ounce.

Ounce hopped and tweeted, and off we went up 5th Avenue and into the Park near the Harlem Meer. I thought Ounce was after a favorite bathing bowl, but it’s too early for fountains.

Before I knew it, Ounce was tweeting and fluffing and hopping, and who floated over but Ripple!

Ounce introduced us, and off they went for a ride on the Meer! I tried to get a photo, but Ounce kept moving around, and then there was the glare of the sun.

I can’t tell you how much fresh air can be packed into a walk.

Apple Harvest Time Along the Reservoir

I was stuck on a limb on the upper east side,
I haven't a clue how I got there!
I was hungry and cold and I needed a nap,
I was lonely and full of despair.
I was inching along in the best way I could, but
I haven't got feet, and I slipped on the wood!
I am fortunate, though,
I fell onto this hole! So,
I ate and I ate, and I'm gaining some weight,
I am warm, I feel great, all I need is a mate!
I am ready nourish my soul!

The Rainbow Fountain, Conservancy Garden, Central Park

Our graceful Rainbow plays for a moment in the Italian Garden Fountain. As you can see, Rainbow is already vanishing back into its transparent spirit home. Fortunately, our brave photographer arrived just in time!

The Power of a Silhouette

Feel your toes grip the wet sand
Inhale the Ocean
listen!
The gulls are playing.

Mission for the Day

1. In today's travels, isolate a small silhouette .  (it should be a ways away, or we can be grabbed by the   nearest 'Q'. )

2. Pause awhile, and let a blessed, unused memory flood your senses.

3. Breathe deeply.

4. Smile.

The Gold of Life

What will happen to my soul when you are gone?
Will I tack it to a wall in a makeshift frame?

Ounce Takes A Bath

Ounce has developed a Characteristic that is not altogether happy.  Ounce does not like to share.

We know already how much Ounce Loves water.  But look how the entire bathbowl is, in the opinion of Ounce, reserved for sole occupancy.  Of course Ounce finaly gives up and flees!

Our amazing photo-journalist has captured this revealing video.  Click the play arrow, and then click the squarish thing on the bottom right of the video for Full Screen!

Don't forget to come back....

A blossom covered day

Is that the same dull winter sparrow
bursting with life like a happy bud?
Is that me, with clumps of spirit blossoms resting in my hand?
Me, with a new leaf painted in my soul?

Spirit Holiday

I know I missed Easter and Wester, and You,
Thanksgiving and Chrismas, Columbus Day too,
but my Spirit was with you; I had to make do!
I even discovered a secret or two:
The seasons keep rolling the hour glass sifts,
regardless of whether or not I exist.
If I don’t pay attention the matter at hand
continues along just as though it were planned,
Not by me,
Never mind!
I’ve got plenty to do,
without thinking about how
to discuss it with you!
Not that I wouldn’t enjoy the exchange,
If it weren’t so totally hard to arrange.
I think I’ll go look for a wish and a star.
I found one! My gosh! And it isn’t that far!
What a beauty, oh my! Has it always been there?
In my eyes, in my care,
It’s just too much to bear.

On Speed Reading

A blank page has nothing, no nothing at all,
but it makes itself over with letters and scrawl,
nevertheless it remains quite pristine
on the edges and margins and spaces between
all those letters and such that don’t matter much
so if I recall it at all
then one word in twenty is plenty.

Early (really early) Magnolia buds in Conservancy Garden

I've sped read through more books than I can count, and I am really and truly great at it. I have become so proficient that I need only drive by a bookstore to read a book, much like ConEd reads meters. (You may not be aware of the special radio-frequency chips inserted in the spines of most best sellers.) So of course I think you should try it!

Here's How: Open your eyes wide, and focus on your smart phone (how do you think that phone got so smart? Downloads!) Anyway, focus, focus. Concomitantly, Flick the pages past with a suitable finger; I prefer the two middle finger method.

Now, work hard at remembering a few of these senders. Orbitz? Home something? Restoration Hardware? I'm sure you can recall your own favorite fly-bys.

Why bother? I thought somebody might deconstruct this act into meaning segments.

Have a beautiful day with snow and sparkle

Once Upon a Time in the Early Fall

Walking along on the wrong side of the sunny street, I took it upon myself to wonder,
why does the world seem a little bit shallow; flat maybe, not up to my usual standards?

It seemed as though I'd been on this very block before,
once upon a time in the early autumn.

So as last resort I took a walk.
A walk! Oh, how I have missed my walks!

Look!
See that sunlit sky as blue as starch, edging over that limb?
It’s pushing away the grey underbelly of the day.

Is that a sparrow resting a minute on a colden rail?

Wait!
My Gosh, it’s Ounce! Our little Ounce,
fluffed up and balanced as a ball.

Ounce is off now, to sip from the edges of a late fountain fall.

Oh dear, I was so excited I forgot to take a picture!  Don’t worry though, we made an appointment.

Beautiful Tree Plus Selfie?

This dog walker could not possibly be ignoring beauty in order to stare at a barely decipherable iPhone screen.  No, even his dog is fully aware.

Therefore, our Insightful Photographer has concluded that this individual dog walker is actually capturing a selfie with the beautiful tree in order to highlight not only the synchronicity of co-location, but also the inherent one-ness of all.

Fortunately, the canine remains super-aware of a more tangible reality.

Mission for the Day,
1. Find a beautiful element in your nearby environment.
2. Capture yourself near the element
3. Imagine what it would be like to share some of the elemental essence.
4. Report back to headquarters; send a photo.

Rainbow Blessings

This Blessing Rainbow has momentarily stopped to rest in the fountain mists of the Conservancy Italian Garden. Notice the collection of Innocent  Bystanders-- or bysitters, if you will --totally unaware of their blessings!  They are being showered with rainbow spirit-blessings that will  travel with them forever, as they make their way along their worldly paths.

Blessing Rainbow Creating Happiness in Fountain Sitters

Mission for the Day

(note: this mission may take a little longer than a day, since sometimes it's not that easy to find the proper spot where a Blessing Rainbow is staying)

  1. Go outside when the sun is up and shining.

  2. Locate a source of running or spraying water. You may locate sprinklers, fountains, (include drinking fountains), droplets on the edge of a leaf....

  3. Position yourself between the water and the sun. You may have to move near, back up, go slightly left or right.

  4. When you catch sight of a Blessing Rainbow, bask in the joy of discovery

  5. Walk on, knowing that you are traveling in an unseen cloud of Rainbow Blessings.

An Almond Blossom Life

Tree limb bending in the morning,
Winter grasses stiff and waiting,
cold, ice-flow afternoon.
Or maybe it’s a new day dawning as they do,
sucking chi up into the core of the bones.

I was a cut out,  filled with stuffing,
a matched up crazy quilted scarecrow
living a see-through life.

So,

I grab a 10 pound pack and a forty dollar bike
and head off towards the Adriatic.
Hills of scrunched-up fruit trees in pink and white,
so happy you can taste the almond blossoms.
Stradas Provinciales tunneled with poplars.
There's a cotton-candy Ferris Wheel the first night out,
a calliope singing Verdi in the popcorn wings.

And it wasn’t that long ago either.

Tracking the Urban Volunteer

Amazing!!!  For many, many years, the Authorities have been searching in vain for this unidentified Urban Volunteer.  She is wanted in several cities across the Northeast for unauthorized vigilante feeding of native Flora and an occasional Fauna.

Notice the furtive posture and the heavy dark glasses-- both known markers of an Urban Vigilante Volunteer.    Although --call her Madam UVV-- has attempted at the last moment to hide behind a branchlet, it isn't a really successful choice.

I hesitate to publish this photo, But it is clearly in our best interests to allow these Urban Vigilante Volunteers to retain their freedom.  After all, somebody has to see that the appropriate things are getting done.

Therefore, be on the lookout.  If you chance upon Madam UVV or another Vigilante Volunteer, please provide them a quiet, unobtrusive warning.
