A Puddle of Petals

Among the grates and the heat and cement,
despite all the washing and cleaning intent,
in just the right light and on just the right street,
a puddle of petals may water your feet.

A Puddle full of Petals

I was skidding through another concrete day
Shoes hitting hard against the sidewalk grey
Sharp shards snapping at the stopped up drain
White sun spitting at a window pane
Background rattle of a subway train.

Then I turned the corner and astonishingly
I see the floating remnants of a cherry tree.

Tiptoeing through my fiberglass life,
fearing a dent at every corner,
training wheels wobbling,
tattered and torn, the day wears on
to a tricycle close.

Well, I didn't change on purpose you know,
I would happily have remained the same,
hoping for a happy, homespun solution!

Narcissist Seducing Puddle

Among the more beautiful puddles is the genus Puddlus Narcissisis Seductivus also known colloquially as  Prison Puddle.  Prison Puddles are capable of capturing reflections for days and sometimes weeks, thus freezing the reflected entity in space and time.  The only escape is for the reflected one to tear itself away from its beautiful image long enough to effect a release.  .

Cosmic Egg Disguised as a Puddle (Rare Photo)

Cosmic Egg, from whence all creation is, takes on many masks -- the gourd, the jar, the lotus, the golden and the eagle's egg to name a few.  The rarest mask of all, however, is the Cosmic Egg Puddle captured here for the very first time.

First Cosmic Egg gestates the creators of the world: Zeus, Chaos, Pangu, Thoth, Brahman, Khepri, Earth Diver, Ka, the Apportioner....Now each and every year the offspring of Cosmic Egg are born  to ensure the rebirth of Creation.

As you can see, Cosmic Egg Puddle is bursting with life, moving, vibrating, and if you hold your ear very close you will hear the whisperings of new life, new love, and new joyful beginnings..

Pieces of Life Assemble in Midtown

Young Being sought and sought, trekked and trekked,
Thought and thought..
Home held an inner compass though, that pointed consistently north.
Awake at dawn and a northern shadow,
Bedded at night under shading boughs.
It isn’t what Young had in mind, yet that's the way it was.

Mid Being fought and fought, married and married,
Bought and bought.
A suitcase here a bungalow there, Mid Being traveled everywhere.
Awake in Jakarta with oxen and coffee,
Bedded in Bali with sandalwood flowers.
Mid Being wanted more, but that’s just the way it was.

Aging Being walks lightly, careful and carefree,
Rolling and tossing,
Falling softly with the pieces of  life, raw as a stone.
Up waiting for sap at the tip of a branch,
Down bound in corners with metal and  mirrors.
Aging Being picks and chooses, and that's the way it turns out.

Picnicing Puddles

Evening puddles join together for an open air early spring picnic.  No ants, no mosquitoes, no tourists, no pigeons.

Reflections in Fall Days

My dreams are illusive things, perhaps, but
Is it possible that I have spelt it wrong?
Could it really be elusive? You see,
I can’t survive all hope abandoned,
That fair and pretty dream of souls connecting
Illuded by the faded warp woof of missed perceptions.

No, I’ll have ‘elusive’, if you please.
Give me that elusive just-around-the-corner love affair.
Give me Plato’s shadowed cave of outside possibilities.
Hell, yes! I’ll taste that fall leaf throwing its reflection.
