Grackle watching spring unfold in Central Park Central Park Near the Boathouse If you can not see this chirbit, listen to it here http://chirb.it/ErGMNN Mission for today: Take care to notice one bird; sparrows are usually available. See how it moves from flight to landing to flight. Watch it do something sparrow-ish. It's always a good idea to take a note. Inhale...Exhale... Check this out on Chirbit

Once Upon a Morning

Image
Side aching, splitting head, time passing away; Graveyards full of conversations. Remember seeking Paris on fifty a day? Remember those great expectations? Travelling, travelling, I don’t remember much Before the stations blurred out of view, Fields filling up with sun-dipped mornings, New mown hours full of daffodils (and you). Where is the river that used to run? Where are the Cedars and Pines? We’re off to the meadow to play with the sun, Leaving only our shadows behind. Brooklyn Botanical Gardens Desert

Ounce and Friends Discuss LIkelihood of a Free Lunch

Image
I found my sparrow friend Ounce (center) earlier today considering the possibilities of receiving truly free meals from cross-hatched metal tables. As you can see, Ounce has recruited two friends to help analyze the situation. Be it known that it is absolutely heroic to exercise such forbearance in the presence of potato chips, no matter where they are found. The Webs of Life

Like a fly we are caught by the merest chance In the waiting webs of circumstance. Isn’t there time for a second look? To see the puzzled picture In the riddle book? To sniff out the hand that baited the hook? What if there is a snaggy thread Pulled loose by a windblown seed? Don’t wait for a message, just go ahead! Take hold, it’s a seed not a weed! Forget all the angles and “wait a secs “, Forget regressing your y over x! It isn’t mathematics that’s calling for you It’s life, it’s exciting, let's try something new!

Innocent Snow Being Heading Toward--Oh My Gosh! It's a.... a ... a ... a......

Image
Snow Being goes by many names:  Little Foot, since she or he leaves no trace; Snow Drop, since he or she appears only when snowflakes stick to the Earth just so; Fare-Thee-Well, since perfection is its natural state.  Nobody knows where Snow dwells, although there are those who say there is a darkened burrow near an unknown station in a tunnel of the IRT.  The scary, wide-eyed snow being is seldom seen, and often considered to be a myth.  Nobody knows the temperament of Snow; nobody interferes; nobody photographs, nobody records for fear of ramifications.  However, as we know, absolutely nothing, can deter our fearless and sensitive photographer from the action scene--not snow, not cold, not a scary situation.  Hark!   Sensing danger, our Brave Photographer rushes outside, and Lo! There is Snow Being, creeping with perplexity toward a dark, round something in the road.  Our photographer, confused by Snow's hesitation, looks carefully.  There, in the middle of the snow-lined tra
