What happens when every tree is the most beautiful?

Image
Away with those judges!, They're all full of grudges from when they competed and wound up defeated with scathing reviews for their smudges. Off with the critic! they're all analytic their pristine advice will completely suffice to turn any true artist arthritic. Stick with the masters of grandeur and grace they are scattering beauty all over the place! Every sprig must be clothed, every twig every stem there's a bud and a blossom for each one of them. There's a petal or two that are meant for you too bringing showers of grace to your place, just in case you have something to do that requires a few.

Yoshina Cherry Trees, East of the Central Park Reservoir

Image
Shall we stay together one more spring? I’d like to taste a cherry blossom on my tongue and feel the fading winter hand in hand. We could hear the dappled shadows whisper-- We could walk the petal carpet one more time.  I’d like to do that. Yoshino Cherry Trees East of the Central Park Reservoir ~ March 2012

East 93rd Street ~ New York City

Image
Breath in, Breath out, Yes! It's still there! What happened to the dreary, soot-filled sidewalks? And the lifeless, sapless trees?  Were we mistaken about it after all? Ninety Third and Madison: New York City in March

It’s time

Image
New life under the rotting leaves pulses out to seed the earth again. Is there no termination of this terrifying transitory life? Is there truly not enough to go around? Do we have too many cherry blossoms? Can we afford to throw them off into the trampled mud with the first new migratory robin? Can't it wait, that pallid summer, hanging from a threaded limb?             Yes, it's been hiding in that crack all winter!

Cezanne? Gauguin? I Can Choose; Yes I Can!

Sweetgum Ball Coalesces Into Spring

Image
Time passes, Days flake off the year. There are no ticking watersheds to mark the seasons,  Boundaries thin, edges blur, the suppositions juxtapose. Sweetgum Balls spring up in April, full of soft green nubs Marking the future birth of the spikes. Tempered by summer-scorch and monsoon rains, blessing the nativity with beautiful protection,    hanging witness to creeping winter, Tearing up the cold March winds, Standing guard for the new yellow buds.

Winter Leaves Bid Farewell

Squiva Pauses for a Nut

Image
I was so excited!  Squiva is back from the coast. look at the wonderful sheen and plumpness that has been "acquired".  (I put that in quotation marks, because after all, it was Southern California and one never knows exactly what procedures take place.)  We had a short visit in Squiva's old territory south of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, on the hill north of the path.  Squiva is so happy to be in such fine health that I was allowed to  publish this natural shot. Nevertheless, even without a fluffy pose, Squiva cannot resist a superb turn of the tail.  We love you, Squiva!
